We all love to have macaroni at some point, in my case, I cook macaroni every week as my husband loves it! I always try to come with new ideas and this is my latest.
1 pound of ground beef.
1 cup of diced onion.
3 minced cloves of garlic.
6 cups of very strong beef broth.
1-28 ounce can of chopped tomatoes.
1-28 ounce can of whole tomatoes.
1/2 cup of ketchup.
1 1/2 tbsp of Worcestershire sauce.
1-2 tbsp of brown sugar ( In case you’re using a sweeter ketchup, don’t add the sugar).
1 tsp of Italian seasoning.
3 cups of cooked elbow macaroni or 2 cups of dry macaroni to add in at the end.
Salt and pepper for flavor.
Start with browning the ground beef with onion and garlic in a medium frying pan until ground beef is no longer pink.
Before moving the beef in a large crockpot, drain the grease and if you want to remove most of the grease rinse with hot water.
In the same crockpot, add the broth to the beef, the cans of chopped and whole tomatoes, Worcestershire, brown sugar (optional) and Italian seasoning. Feel free to add more sugar and Worcestershire if you’d like too.
Cook on low for 8 to 10 hours.
At the serving time, you have two options, you can either add the dry macaroni and let cook for 20 to 25 minutes, or you can just add cooked macaroni and let it heat before serving.
Even if takes time to cook, it’s very easy to prepare and the result is amazing. The ground beef goes perfectly with the tomatoes and the macaroni. I personally add some cheese to the top while eating it.
